O hello,

I decided to aggravate my life and push myself to the brink of suicide by building my own computer system. After browsing the web for components, I settled on:
List under hereCollapse )
My friend got the same stuff, except for two important things - different memory (he has 8GB, while I have 4GB) and a different video card. His rig came together beautifully, he installed Windows Vista 64-bit, which is what I'm trying to install.

Me? I put everything together with the utmost care (all in this pretty case). What happens when I boot?
Error codes behind hereCollapse )
I googled the error code but I'm not getting much help.

It could be the copy of the DVD (but my friend used the same copy a few days earlier). I'm in the process of re-downloading Visat 64-bit.
Someone suggested that I take out one of the sticks of memory I had installed, and I did this. That didn't help.
Could it be the video card I am using?
Help me plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Cookies, hugs, and perhaps small bits of money will be doled.

X-Posted a bit.

For Otakon!

My original plans for carpooling with some friends has hit a snag, and now I am looking for some other people to ride with.

1. Must be able to cover travel costs. This means fair share of gas, food, and anything else that may happen.
2. 2 people max. I drive a car, and space will be needed for bags, costumes, and whatnot.
3. Able to have a meeting to meet each other and discuss scheduling.

Leave a post if interested.

Gaming Desktop Help

O hey.

My nieces and nephew need a new desktop, and being the amazing aunt I am I have decided to give them my old one and buy myself a new gaming desktop.

I'm not a technology n00b, but the most gaming I've done on a PC is playing the Sims - now I am venturing out to WoW and TF2 and Portal and lots of other Steam goodness. Soooo, I need a computer that is equipped to handle all that graphic intense goodness. Unfortunately, I have like ZERO time to track down good sites that review good, cheap ($1000-$1500 is my budget) gaming desktops or laptops.

So I turn to you guys - what's your input on gaming desktops, sites that review them, best deals out there? Links are appreciated. I've searched and searched, but I'm totally clueless as to what processor is going to be the best, and what type of graphic card I need, and I really don't want to pay too much.

I'm not opposed to building my own PC - but I need links that explain what parts I would need to buy, so tutorials are also appreciated.

SIGH. Plz be my nerdy guru.

Hijack this readers?

Does anyone know how to read hijack this logs or can recommend someone or an online community that can?

Situation is... I got a virus a few weeks ago and while I got rid of it, I think there might be residual changes made that have slowed down my laptop quite a bit. I can't seem to figure out what to do to speed it up and figured a hijack this log might he able to help out.

Dr McNinja

(no subject)

So this might be a bit of an odd question but...

Does anyone know of any games similar to "The 7th Guest" of yore?  It's a first person mystery/puzzle game, if that helps.  I really haven't been following PC games so I have no idea what's available and picking through GameStop's website isn't really helping.  :\

eBay goodies + army of two?

Hey everyone! I'm selling some video games on eBay if anyone is interested:

Also- have any of you purchased/played Army of Two yet? Any thoughts? I have been thinking of getting the game so that my boyfriend and I will have another co-op to play (other than gears of war). Let me know what you think!

New UCF Gaming Club: The Knights of the Polyhedron

Hi everyone, I made the Facebook group for the new gaming club I posted about earlier. It's called "Knights of the Polyhedron" because I thought it was a fitting name and UCF Gaming Club is a little on the boring side.

Join up today and let your friends know!

UCF Gaming Club

Hi everyone. I know that there was a UCF Gaming Club at one time but what that club was and its status overtime has changed. That's non-digital gaming by the way though that's cool too. The club also had a less than stellar record in the past if I remember correctly. To my knowledge, such a club doesn't exist at the moment but I would like to build a new club.

So who's interested?
